Salesianum School Summer Programs for Incoming Freshmen

Salesianum School offers special programs for incoming Freshmen to help them get a jump start to their first year. Any incoming Freshman is welcome but space is limited.

SC 300 Freshman Transition

This one-week course is designed to help students of the Class of 2012 make their transition to Salesianum. Learning the skills necessary to succeed at Salesianum, a detailed campus tour, and meeting new classmates and teachers are all part of the Freshman Transition Program.

TOPICS COVERED: Communication and organizational skills, reading techniques, note-taking, homework and testing strategies, learning styles, goal setting, campus tours, building friendships in a new school.

SC 300-1: July 7-11, 8:30-11:30 am
SC 300-2: July 14-18, 8:30-11:30 am
SC 300-3: July 21-25, 8:30-11:30 am
SC 300-4: July 28-August 1, 8:30-11:30 am
SC 300-5: July 28-August 1, 12:30-3:30 pm

FEE: $180
* Class size is limited and classes are filled on a first come/ first served basis. Five sections are offered. Please choose your first choice on the website. If that section is full, you will be asked to choose another section.

 

SC 301 TECHNOLOGY SKILLS

A course designed to offer students of the Class of 2012 the opportunity to fulfill both required competencies in the Technology Skills course. Those students who wish to fulfill the Technology Skills requirement during the summer may enroll. The two components of this course are Keyboarding and Computer Applications.

Two sections are offered and must be selected at the time of registration. If the requested section is full, you will be prompted to enroll in the other section. If both sections are full, you will be immediately notified that the course is no longer open. The cost of the textbook is NOT included in the cost of this course.

TOPICS COVERED:

KEYBOARDING: Identification of computer components, saving and retrieving files, Windows desktop, password protection, keyboarding accuracy and speed.

COMPUTER APPLICATIONS: Major applications in Microsoft Office 2000: MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint

TEXTBOOK: The textbook is not included in the cost of this course. Digitools: Technology Application Tools (South Western/ITP) must be purchased prior to the first day of the class through a bookstore or online. The ISBN is 0-538-43486-4.
