Salesianum's Michael Kowal Named 2005 Gatorade Delaware Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year

Salesianum graduate Michael Kowal '05 has been selected as the 2005 Gatorade Delaware Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year.

During his senior year at Salesianum, Michael won the Division I state championship in the 800 meters and followed that up with a win in the Meet of Champions.

In the classroom, Michael concluded his Salesianum academic career in June ranked third in his class with a 4.35 cumulative GPA. He will be attending Princeton University this fall and running cross country.

Now in its 20th Anniversary season, the Gatorade High School Player of the Year Award honors top high school student-athletes in 10 varsity sports for their athletic performance, as well as for their achievement in the classroom and overall character.

Selections were made by a National Advisory Board comprised of sportswriters and sport-specific experts from across the country. Michael is now eligible for the Gatorade National Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year award to be announced in the coming weeks.

Salesianum School is a Roman Catholic independent secondary school that teaches young men to Live Jesus, guided by the spirituality of Saint Francis de Sales, through a college preparatory education, enabling them to take their place in the world as Salesian gentlemen.
