Salesianum Accepts Two Students Tuition-Free From Flood-Ravaged New Orleans SchoolsSchool offered five slots to refugee students on TuesdayTwo students from Catholic schools in flood-ravaged New Orleans will be attending Salesianum School tuition-free for the 2005-06 school year or until their previous schools can be reopened. Both students that have enrolled in Salesianum have family in New Castle County. They come from Jesuit High School and Brother Martin High School, schools damaged by Hurricane Katrina. The two students were accepted to Salesianum without providing transcripts, a typical requirement for admission that is currently impossible under current conditions in New Orleans. On Tuesday, Salesianum offered five tuition-free spots to students from other Catholic schools from New Orleans after the storm and its aftermath displaced hundreds of thousands of people. At least three spots remain available for displaced students. Families of interested students should contact Dennis Harris, admissions director at Salesianum, at (302) 654-2495 ext. 158 or dharris@salesianum.org. If necessary, Salesianum will help in finding a host family for a student unfamiliar to the area. Salesianum School is a Roman Catholic independent secondary school that teaches young men to Live Jesus, guided by the spirituality of Saint Francis de Sales, through a college preparatory education, enabling them to take their place in the world as Salesian gentlemen. For interviews or more information, please contact Jon Allison '97, alumni & communications director, at (302) 654-2495 ext. 143. |
