Salesianum Offers Tuition-Free Admission To Five Students From New Orleans

School offers to find host families, if needed

Salesianum School has offered five tuition-free spots to students from other Catholic schools from flood-ridden New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath displaced hundreds of thousands of people.

Students will be accepted to Salesianum without providing transcripts, a typical requirement for admission that is currently impossible with New Orleans still suffering through blackouts, looting and flooding.

Accommodations are being made by Salesianum to house as many students as necessary with host families.

"We at Salesianum School welcome the opportunity to reach out to students in need from the devastated areas of the Gulf Coast," said Rev. William McCandless, OSFS, Salesianum School principal. "Our patron, St. Francis de Sales, teaches that reaching out to those in need is of the highest importance in living a truly Christian life."

Families of interested students should contact Dennis Harris, admissions director at Salesianum, at (302) 654-2495 ext. 158 or dharris@salesianum.org.

Salesianum School is a Roman Catholic independent secondary school that teaches young men to Live Jesus, guided by the spirituality of Saint Francis de Sales, through a college preparatory education, enabling them to take their place in the world as Salesian gentlemen.
