Salesianum Model United Nations Captures Another Win; Team Presented With Distinguished Delegation Award

Salesianum School was presented with the Distinguished Delegation Award at the National DeSales Oblate Model United Nations Conference at Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia on November 18, 2006.

Nine students were presented with the first place Gavel Award. In addition, 12 students received Outstanding Delegate Awards, while 17 students received an honorable mention during award ceremonies.

The topics of discussion included the situations in Sudan and North Korea. Students from Salesianum represented several countries, including Sudan and Egypt.

The following students won awards represented Sudan: Seniors Kevin Kowal and Joe Smith; and juniors Marco Alberti, Cal Greene, Vince Jacono and Alex Osborne.

The following students won gavels represented Egypt: Juniors Eric Austin and Philip Tang, and freshman Peter Palena.

Salesianum School will play host to the Delaware Model United Nations (DELMUN) this Saturday, Dec. 9. Students from schools in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey will participate in the all-day competition. Awards will be presented at the end of the day.

Salesianum School is a Roman Catholic independent secondary school that teaches young men to "Live Jesus", guided by the spirituality of Saint Francis de Sales, through a college preparatory education, enabling them to take their place in the world as Salesian gentlemen.
