Parents Understanding Technology

On Wednesday, March 15th, a technology program for parents was presented at Salesianum School. This event was co-sponsored by Salesianum and Mrs. Rita Rosaio, 2005 Delaware Mother of the Year. The guest speaker was Patricia H. Sine, Director for the Office of Technology at the University of Delaware.

Pat gave a presentation that helped parents better understand what our youth are exposed to on-line. She gave demonstrations of sites like "MySpace" and explained the benefits and dangers for our youth. The bottom line of the whole evening was that parents need to know what their children are doing on-line so we can help them to make good decisions. Pat explained the benefits of certain types of software that parents can use as tools to keep tract of what their children are doing online. Many of these types of programs are explained at www.software4parents.com.

If you would like to get more information on Pat's presentation, as well as many other presentations Pat has done on technology, please visit her web-site at www.udel.edu/sine/.

Salesianum School is a Roman Catholic independent secondary school that teaches young men to "Live Jesus", guided by the spirituality of Saint Francis de Sales, through a college preparatory education, enabling them to take their place in the world as Salesian gentlemen.
