Andrew McDonough Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament

You may have heard of the heroic battles that 14 year old Andrew McDonough fought after being hospitalized at A.I. duPont Hospital in Wilmington on January 29, 2007 with a diagnosis of leukemia and a sepsis infection. Andrew's courage during his nearly 6 month battle at A.I. while undergoing numerous surgeries and facing numerous infections was an inspiration not just to his family and close friends, but also to a much wider audience who came to know him through the newspaper, television, and on www.caringbridge.org/visit/andrewmcdonough. He truly had the "heart of a champion"! On July 14, 2007, Andrew went to heaven.

In addition to being an excellent athlete, particularly in soccer and baseball, Andrew was a "straight A" student at Salesianum School. Andrew's parents, Joe and Chris, are proud of his academic accomplishments and grateful for the opportunity Andrew had to be educated at Salesianum. In order to help Andrew's legacy live on, the family has established the Andrew McDonough Scholarship Fund to help provide an opportunity for academically eligible young men, who could not otherwise afford the tuition, to attend Salesianum School.

The Friends of Andrew McDonough Event Committee would like to invite you to its inaugural Golf Tournament at Inniscrone Golf Club in Avondale, Pennsylvania, on Monday, October 8, 2007. Proceeds from this tournament will go to the "Andrew McDonough Scholarship Fund" at Salesianum School.

We ask that you help us carry on Andrew's legacy by supporting this Golf Tournament. You or your company can help in a number of ways, by playing in the tournament, by being a Sponsor (see links below for levels of sponsorship). We would also greatly appreciate donations of items to be auctioned off at the Golf Tournament. The tax deductible portion of the $200 registration/entry fee is $100.
