Salesianum School Names Lo Sapio New
Cross Country Coach

Religion teacher has assisted program past two seasons

Salesianum School has hired Michael Lo Sapio as the head coach of the Cross Country program.

Lo Sapio, who has taught religion courses at Salesianum since 2004, has been an assistant in Salesianum's running program the past two years. At La Salle University, Lo Sapio was four-time All-Conference in track and cross country for the Explorers.

Lo Sapio has also spent time as the head club track coach at the University of Pennsylvania.

"Mike's been a part of our program for the past two years, and he knows the kids well," said Michael Hart '70, Salesianum's athletic director. "We are happy to have him here."

Lo Sapio replaces Ralph Heiss, who stepped down from his coaching duties at Salesianum last month. Under Heiss, Salesianum won 16 of the past 18 cross country state championships.

The head coaching positions for the winter and spring track programs remain open, Hart said.

Salesianum School is a Roman Catholic independent secondary school that teaches young men to "Live Jesus", guided by the spirituality of Saint Francis de Sales, through a college preparatory education, enabling them to take their place in the world as Salesian gentlemen.
