Four Salesianum School Senior Athletes To Sign NCAA Athletic Commitments

Quartet vital to school's dominance in 2005-06 fall sports championships

Wilmington, Del. (February 6, 2007) - Four Salesianum School seniors will sign their official commitments to play NCAA sports in 2007-08 on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

Seniors Kevin Mitten (University of Delaware - soccer), Michael Phillips (Lafayette College - football), Andrew Szczerba (Pennsylvania State University - football) and Michael Volk (soccer - Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey) will each put their signature on their letters of intent.

Mitten (Dover, Del.) and Volk (Bear, Del.) helped lead Salesianum to its third straight soccer championship as defenders this past season. Phillips (Thornton, Pa.), an offensive lineman and linebacker, and Szczerba (Wilmington, Del.), a tight end and defensive end, were pivotal in the Sals' undefeated repeat as state champions.

The signings will take place in Salesianum's Centenary Hall, shortly after 9 a.m. All four student-athletes will be available for questions.

Salesianum School is a Roman Catholic independent secondary school that teaches young men to "Live Jesus", guided by the spirituality of Saint Francis de Sales, through a college preparatory education, enabling them to take their place in the world as Salesian gentlemen.
