St. Francis de Sales believed knowledge to be the eighth sacrament. At Salesianum, a genuine love for and interest in knowledge, along with a realistic understanding of what is involved in its acquisition, are absolutely necessary to be a successful student and a complete human being. Salesianum is dedicated to doing all it can to help each student develop this love, interest, and understanding.
Salesianum's faculty and professional staff is composed of a combination of religious and lay members. Some 14 Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, priests and brothers, form the core of the school's faculty. This talented and dedicated group of men is complemented by 75 outstanding lay teachers and a professional staff of 30. These men and women combine their talents and personalities to create a unique and stimulating learning environment for their students. They breathe life into the bricks and mortar of Salesianum. Approximately 2/3 of the faculty have earned masters degrees, and the average length of teaching experience is almost 23 years. Faculty members are regularly recognized and honored by industry and professional organizations.
Professionalism and dedication are the hallmarks of a Salesianum teacher. They willingly accept their challenge of becoming partners with parents in the education of their sons. The teachers' objective, quite simply, is to help each student use his God-given energy and initiative, and the resources available at Salesianum to achieve his full, individual potential. As part of this commitment to help, faculty and staff members are regularly available after school to assist students in need of special attention.
