A Salesian Rememberance of John J. Murray '86
When John graduated with his class in June of 1986, not one of our present students had yet been born.
John was an excellent student, in fact a member of the National Honor Society. He was an active student having played intra-mural soccer and basketball. Additionally, he was an interscholastic wrestler and on our golf team.
At the age of 32, John was lost to the Terrorist attack of the World Trade Center on that fateful morning of September 11, 2001. John was working on the 104th floor of One World Trade Center that morning.
He was an Area Director and Partner for Cantor Fitzgerald, living in Hoboken with his wife Rory at the time of his death. His parents still reside in Wilmington, and his sisters in nearby Hockessin and West Chester, PA.
Salesianum pauses to remember John, at this 10th anniversary of the 9/11 event. We recall his goodness and pray for his family. Please know that your Salesian Brothers at 1801 N. Broom find "Strength in Brotherhood" and as our theme for this school year will continue the legacy of John and others on whose shoulders we rest. A special moment of silence and reflection will be held on Friday September 9, 2011 to honor those lost that day, especially John J. Murray our Salesian brother.
May God Bless and keep the Murray family.
