Mass of the Holy Spirit

Thursday, we celebrated Mass of the Holy Spirit - the first mass of the school year that we gather as a school community. It was an extra special and emotion-filled celebration!

Andres Samson '20 of Haley-Carpenter House provided the Salesian reflection. In his reflection, he spoke of the human instinct to make a judgment about others nearly immediately. Andres challenged the school community to introduce themselves to someone new each school day and move beyond those initial judgments which too often prevent friendships from occurring. During mass, Principal Fr. Beretta, OSFS announced that Nick Horgan '20 is about to have his port removed, an important milestone in his cancer treatment. The response from his Salesians brothers was nothing short of pure elation. Fr. Beretta also reminded us that the word liturgy comes from a Greek word meaning “the work of the people.” Mass should not solely be seen as “the work of the priests,” because it was never intended to be.

A BIG thank you the Parents Association for starting our day with donuts!
