While at Salesianum, Anthony “Tony” Denney had an impressive academic record, achieving Dean’s List for nearly all marking periods. He enjoyed being involved with the theater program where he pursued a leadership role as a producer of one of the student productions.
Tony matriculated into Salesianum from Christ the Teacher Catholic School, and like many incoming freshmen, his reports his biggest fear “Was not being able to find a great group of friends.” But, thanks to Salesianum’s house system, diverse student body and wide array of activities, that fear was quickly erased.
Tony explains that he felt most spiritually connected to the brotherhood during very different times, including during the funeral of a fellow student and also while on Encounter retreat. His advice to students is “Get involved in whatever interests you and get out of your comfort zone right away.” Tony credits his Salesianum education with providing him an opportunity to see the potential in himself, the world around him and how to best actualize this potential.
Tony will be attending the University of Delaware and plans to major in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. He is the recipient of the University of Delaware’s Presidential Scholarship and was honored by several other universities’ top scholarship programs including Loyola University – Maryland, Catholic University, Seton Hall University, Cabrini College and LaSalle University founder’s Scholarship.
