Will Calandra

Will joined Salesianum after transferring from northern New Jersey his sophomore year and found the sense of community and brotherhood very welcoming. Among his greatest fears was finding the right friends while only having a short period of time to build these relationships. These fears were quickly erased. “The school is extremely welcoming; you can have a friendly conversation with everyone. The strong sense of community is among Salesianum’s biggest strengths…you are consistently surrounded by great people who want to be your friend and help you succeed.”

His seamless transition helped position him for numerous academic accolades including being named an AP Scholar, earning principal’s list honor roll, membership in both the National Honor and French National Honor Societies. While excelling academically, Will balanced being involved with the Stock Market Club and Varsity Ice Hockey Team. He offers, “I would encourage the freshman class to try new things and broaden your horizons. High school is a time of great personal growth, maturity, and independence; take time to discover your gifts and discern who you are called to be in this world.”

Will’s biggest takeaway from his years at Salesianum is to always strive to be a Salesian Gentleman. He explains, “To me, this means to be respectful, have a positive attitude, and help those in need of our service…and always strive to be the best version of ourselves in everything that we may encounter.” Will was honored with numerous scholarships and will be attending Georgetown University where he intends to study business.
