Admissions Process
Placement Exams
The school administers the Closed Catholic High School Placement Exam (HSPT)
Salesianum School requires a placement Exam for all incoming 8th graders. The exam will be scheduled, and a completed registration in onCampus, our parent portal, will be required to register your son. Students scoring in the top percentile may qualify for a merit scholarship.
This national exam is used by 85% of Catholic high schools to assess prospective students. An HSPT Prep Course will also be offered in the summer to help students prepare. Find out more information and register here.

We offer an optional 7th-Grade Exam in March. Registration is available now. Academic scholarships are awarded to a student based on his score on the exam. Students scoring in the top percentile may qualify.

8th Grade Placement Exam
Salesianum uses the admissions exam as the primary tool for evaluating candidates; however, the student’s transcript, teacher recommendations, and legacy status are also important. Please see below for exam accommodations for students with special learning needs, and visit our Educational Support page for more information about our program. All of our 8th-grade applicants must take the Placement Exam. Academic scholarships are awarded to a student based on his score on the exam. Students scoring in the top percentile may qualify. Testing Accomodations
Salesianum is pleased to offer testing accommodations for students taking the Placement Examination. Educational accommodations resulting from a physical disability, diagnosed learning difference, or ADD/ADHD, will only be provided at the exam if all necessary documentation has been received at least one week prior to the exam. Please note the following documentation requirements:- A psycho-educational evaluation was completed within the last three years. For students with physical disabilities, a letter or report from a medical doctor indicating the specific diagnosis, his/her title and specialization, and contact information is required.
-OR-- A copy of the current IEP or 504 plan specifying recommended accommodations.

Testing Details
Test Details:- The exam will be held at Salesianum. Students are permitted to bring a water bottle or a snack if needed.
- Calculators are not permitted.
- Detailed information will be sent two days before the exam.
- To study for the exam, we recommend using the current edition of the Master the Catholic High Schools Entrance Exams.
- The best preparation is consistent study dedication and a good night’s sleep.

7th Grade Exam
Seventh graders are invited to take the exam on March 7, 2026, at 8:30 AM. A completed registration reserves a seat for this exam. This is optional and helps students become comfortable with and aware of the testing format.
Early candidate scholarships are awarded to students based on their exam scores. Students scoring in the top percentile may qualify.
All 8th-grade students are required to take the Placement Exam.
