Thank you for your interest in writing a letter of support to a graduating senior. This new Salesianum tradition began in 2020 when senior class members faced unprecedented obstacles due to the global pandemic. The Class of 2020 lost many milestones - their final athletic seasons, senior prom, in-person learning, and most importantly, Baccalaureate mass and the legendary Salesianum commencement ceremony. In a gesture of pure Salesianum optimism and love, it was decided that personal words of encouragement would be sent to each senior from an alumnus that came before them. The hope was that this simple act would leave an indelible mark on these young graduates, provide hope, and exemplify Tenui Nec Dimittam.

The outpouring of support from alumni, for this project, was overwhelming. Similarly, the response the personal letters evoked from the seniors was astounding. The shared Salesianum experience spans more than 100 years and these letters erased the boundaries of time. The fact remains that no matter the obstacle, whether it be world wars, global financial collapse, a pandemic, or geographical distance - the love and support from your Salesian brothers always endures.

The letter-writing campaign now runs each year from January through early May. We invite you to become a part of this new tradition, a living stone, that helps to guide the way for the latest generation of Salesian Gentlemen while reminding them, in the words of our patron saint Francis de Sales, to “Be who they are and be that well.” Please confirm your commitment, via the link below, to write a letter to a senior this year.
