The Salesianum Cross Country Team started in 1958. The teams were Independent League Champions in 1960, 1961, 1963, and 1964. The State Tournament for Cross Country did not begin until 1964. The Salesianum Cross Country team has won the State Championship all but ten years since 1969. The Fr. Beattie Salesianum Cross Country Invitational is an annual tradition at Brandywine Creek State Park, where more than 100 high schools compete to try to Conquer the Creek

The Salesianum football program was founded in 1921 under the direction of Mr. Arthur “Brick” Malloy and has continued to the present, with a five-year interruption from 1939 to 1944 due to World War II.  Over the years, the Salesianum football team has competed against over 130 teams from six states and the Washington, D.C., area. The team has won eight state championships has come in second place four times has had 83 winning seasons in 98 years. Salesianum football has had more than 160 First Team All-State players and over 300 players participate in the Blue-Gold All-Star games.  Two former Salesianum standouts are currently competing in the NFL: Troy Reeder ‘14 with the Los Angeles Rams and Brian O’Neill, ‘14 with the Minnesota Vikings.

The soccer program was started in 1975 and was coached by Mr. Anthony Wolanski '65 until 2001. In Coach Wolanski's 27 years, he posted 323 wins, 96 losses, and 49 ties and won state championships in 1983, 1989, and 1993.  Coach Scott Mosier took over the program in 2002, and the teams under his guidance have won the State Championship in 17 out of a possible 20 appearances.  Since 2002, more than 40 players have gone on to play for DI programs, with another 40 plus players at the DII/DIII level.  More than ten players have been named National All-Americans and two Academic All-Americans.  Salesianum has been ranked in the top 25 high school soccer programs nationally numerous times.
