Seniors Jimmy Conley and Seamus Oliver Complete The KYW Newstudies Student Reporter Program

Long-time WSAL broadcasters Jimmy Conley '22 and Seamus Oliver '22 were selected and completed KYW's Newstudies Student Reporter Program. Since 1968, KYW Newsradio has allowed high school students to learn about the inner workings of a major market radio station. KYW is a commercial radio station serving listeners in the Philadelphia area. It is one of the oldest radio stations in America, originating in Chicago and moving to Philadelphia. As part of the program, students learn reporting, news writing, editing, ethics, and interviewing skills from KYW Newsradio managers, editors, and reporters on Saturdays.

To complete their graduation from the program, students must research, write and record a news report about something in their school or community. KYW Newsradio aired their stories and they are available online on the podcast. Listen to Jimmy Conley's recording and Seamus Oliver's recording now. Congratulations to Jimmy and Seamus for successfully completing the Newstudies Student Reporter Program at KYW Newsradio!
