Winston Yalamanchili '23 Named the Newark Community Band Scholarship Recipient

Winston Yalamanchili '23 has been awarded the Newark Community Band Scholarship for 2023. Winston will receive a cash award for college studies and be featured in the band's 40th Anniversary concert on March 19th at 3 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Newark. Winston plays the clarinet, is a member of the Salesianum Wind Ensemble, and is the section leader in the Salesianum, Ursuline, and Padua (S.U.P.) Marching Band.

A committee appointed by The Newark Community Band Board of Directors selected Winston as the recipient of this award. To qualify, the award recipient must be a high school junior or senior, have a minimum grade point average of 2.8 on a 4.0 Scale, and submit a letter of recommendation from their high school band director. Additional criteria include excellent sight reading skills and participation in at least eight Wednesday night rehearsals during January, February, and March. The Newark Community Band Scholarship winner will be recognized during the 40th Anniversary concert on Sunday, March 19th, where he will receive the scholarship award.
