SENIOR Tobi Taiwo RECEIVES TOP SCHOLARSHIP FROM UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE

Congratulations to senior Tobi Taiwo for receiving the Eugene du Pont Scholarship from the University of Delaware.

Eugene du Pont Scholars are outstanding students interested in enhancing academic and student life at the University of Delaware. The Eugene du Pont Scholarship was founded in 1980 from an endowment created in 1939 by Amy E. du Pont in honor of her father, a scientist who led the DuPont company from 1889 to 1902, and the premier scholarship offered by UD. Eugene du Pont Scholars are chosen because of their potential to be leaders at UD and beyond. They are expected to make significant contributions to the academic and extracurricular excellence of the University. Many du Pont Scholars have later been the recipients of other prestigious scholarships, like the Rhodes, Marshall, and Truman scholarships.

Eugene du Pont Scholars receive the following:
  • A Scholarship for four years of study; the award covers tuition, standard on-campus room and board, and comprehensive health and student center fees—also the differential charge, if applicable (students may also use the funds to support UD study abroad in the fall and spring semesters and, in the fourth year, students have the option to use funds for off-campus living expenses)
  • $500 each fall and spring semester to be used toward textbooks and
  • A one-time grant of $2,500 to be used toward an approved enrichment activity
