Alex-Jaden Peart '20 Honored with Prestigious Awards and Fellowships
Alum Alex-Jaden Peart '20 has built an exceptional academic career defined by scholarship, service, and global impact. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Peart earned three majors—in Classics, International Studies, and English Writing—as well as minors in German and Ancient Greek and a certificate in Transatlantic Studies. His impressive achievements reflect both a lifelong curiosity about language and culture and the Salesian foundation that continues to guide his work.
"My drive comes from what I learned at Salesianum about a life lived in service of others," Peart shared. "Vocationally, it's about taking up your cross and following the hallmarks of what it means to be a Salesian Gentleman."
During his time at Pitt, Peart distinguished himself as both a scholar and a leader. As a Panthers Forward recipient, he embodied the program's call to mentorship and giving back, often reflecting on his commitment to "holding the door open for the next person"—a philosophy that continues to shape his teaching, research, and vocation.
His passion for language and history has earned him a series of international honors. Peart was named the 2024–25 Lionel Pearson Fellow, one of North America's most prestigious awards in the field of Classics, through which he earned an MPhil in Classics and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics from the University of Cambridge. He later received a Fulbright Research Grant to pursue research at Humboldt University of Berlin. He is currently teaching English in Austria through the Fulbright Austria U.S. Teaching Assistantship (USTA), a program founded in 1962 to promote cultural exchange through education.
Next year, he will continue his academic journey as a doctoral candidate in the Department of Classics at Princeton University. Congratulations to Alex-Jaden on his remarkable achievements!
