Scholastic Art Award Winners Announced

Salesianum students are being recognized on a national stage for their creativity and artistic excellence through the Scholastic Art Award, the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens, founded in 1923.

Out of thousands of submissions, three students earned top honors for their photography. Ryan VanKerhoven ’26 received a Gold Key, the highest award, reserved for the top 5% of entries in any category. His work will be exhibited in the 2026 Delaware Scholastic Art Awards Gold Key Exhibition, on view from January 26 to February 14, 2026, at the Art Center Gallery at Delaware State University in Dover.

Rocco Abessinio ’26 and Liam Watson ’26 were each awarded Silver Keys, which recognize the top 10% of entries in their respective categories.

In addition to the state exhibition, the students’ work will be featured in Salesianum’s annual spring art exhibit and the school’s Arts & Literary Magazine, celebrating the creativity within our community.

Congratulations to this year’s Scholastic Award winners! We also wish Ryan the best of luck, as his Gold Key nomination will automatically advance him to the national competition.
