Parents are welcome to attend the July appointment dates with your son.
If you cannot make the campus dates we have two alternative options. You can book an appointment at the Newark Studio. This will allow you ample time for retakes should they be needed. You will need to call Prestige/Lifetouch at 1-800-736-4775 (note the new number) or https://prestigeportraits.com/studio to book a studio appointment. We will also have Prestige back on campus in mid-September during the school day. We try and keep the mid-September date reserved for needed retakes to limit disruptions to the academic school day.
\Especially for those who have not been to our Commencement Exercises in the past, please be advised of the following expectations:
Our Commencement exercises have always focused on the entire class. For this reason, we discourage the seniors from doing anything to draw attention to themselves at the expense of their classmates.
This expectation is also extended to families. Moving the ceremonies outside, and after we have been in lockdown for much of the year, we understand the enthusiasm that families are waiting to unleash! We ask, however, that this be done only at appropriate times when the class is recognized as a group, and not after each name is read. This may be different from other high school and college graduations, but trust us: this has long been school tradition and is part of what makes our ceremony unforgettable. And is especially important this year, so that one family’s celebration does not interfere with another graduate’s moment.
In light of the above expectations, noise makers or air horns are explicitly prohibited. Please allow us to introduce the entire class while holding your applause until every senior has been recognized.
Note that only one graduating senior receives a diploma at the ceremony itself - when this student shows the diploma to his classmates, THAT is the moment to show your love and enthusiasm, following the lead of the class of 2021!
Diplomas will be distributed after the ceremony. Seniors will march back to school at the conclusion of graduation to retrieve diplomas.
A first-ever morning graduation means tailgatingafter the ceremony will be permitted, subject to a few common sense guidelines:
Tailgating is limited to school parking lots only (not stadium, state lots, or street parking). We would ask that those intending to tailgate park in the RED LOT or otherwise known as the "upper" lot (see enclosed maps).
No spots may be reserved and no overnight parking is permitted in the school lot Friday night. Please do not arrive prior to 7:00 AM Saturday morning.
Parking at school and surrounding areas is limited and we will be challenged to accommodate all students, families, and faculty. Please carpool whenever possible and do not bring multiple cars or elaborate tailgate materials that would take a needed parking space from another family. Help make this work for everyone!
Please make sure that any alcohol consumption is in moderation, strictly limited to those of legal age, and in no way whatsoever includes the graduates.
We would ask that all lots be cleared by 3:00 PM. Please help our facilities staff by packing up all trash and either taking it with you or disposing of it in the dumpsters near the entrance to the upper lot. If the dumpster are full, please take trash with you.
Our hope is that families can relax and visit with one another as the graduates say their goodbyes, enjoy some food, and get pictures in their iconic tuxes. Thank you!
Parking is limited. We strongly encourage families to limit the number of cars they bring to campus. >>View our parking map
Blue Lot - Lower parking lot on our main campus is reserved for seniors. Red Lot - Upper parking lot on our main campus is reserved for families. This is the only space where tailgating is permitted on Saturday. Green Lot - the state rock lock located on 18th Street across from the Science wing is open for families and guests. There are approximately 50 spaces in this lot. We also have access to the parking lot located behind Warner Elementary with approximately 100 spots. Purple Lot - The Abessinio lot is reserved for those with state issued handicapped placards or handicapped passes issued by the school. The school passes are only allotted for those who have requested a wheelchair seating space.
Gold Lot - Located on our main campus in the "A" Alcove, this space is reserved for the Board of Trustees.
Street Parking - parking is readily available on the street on Broom and 18th streets.
Members of the Class of 2021 are required to attend practices for their commencement exercises listed below. Students who do not attend or who are late will be required to make up the time.

Failure to be within policy will result in a detention. We strongly recommend that students eat breakfast and bring a refillable water jug.
