Tate Fontanazza ’27 and Jack Longo ’26 Participated in the University of Delaware Summer Math Program

Tate Fontanazza ’27 and Jack Longo ’26 participated in the University of Delaware’s Summer Math Modeling Program for High Schoolers this past summer. Mathematics Chair Karen Schuster nominated both students in recognition of their strong performance and interest in mathematics. The competitive program admits only 20 high school students from across Delaware, making Tate and Jack’s selection especially impressive.

The five-day intensive program challenged students to apply mathematics to real-world problems. Participants worked in teams guided by University of Delaware graduate students, attended lectures led by university professors, and engaged in collaborative problem solving through mathematical modeling. Each student also received a stipend upon completion of the program.

Tate and Jack gained hands-on experience in problem-solving and communication while exploring how mathematics extends beyond the classroom. Congratulations to Tate and Jack on this outstanding achievement!
