Salesianum applauds senior Zachary Alvord for being gifted the Craig & Galen Brown Foundation Scholarship. Galen T. Brown, an owner of the Fortune 500 company Keystone International, started the Brown Foundation in 1985, in collaboration with his son, Craig Brown, to aid undergraduate students in Texas. Beginning in 1992, the Brown Foundation began distributing undergraduate scholarships, which have broken the $24 million mark to date. The Craig & Galen Brown Foundation Scholarship is given to 4 Texas A&M students annually, with winners receiving a full-ride. These individuals are well-rounded students who have National Merit Status, pursue majors in the STEM fields, and are viewed as leaders both on and off the Texas A&M University campus.

Alvord truly fulfills the values of the Craig & Galen Brown Foundation Scholarship. He was selected as a National Merit Finalist and is a Presidential Scholar at Salesianum. Additionally, Alvord participated in a research internship within Michigan State University’s Bioengineering Lab, where he modeled platinum nanoparticles for hydrogen production this past summer. Outside of his academics, Alvord tutors students in algebra and trigonometry at MathPlus Learning Center in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. Phenomenal work, Zachary and Salesianum is eager to see how you continue to “Be who you are and be that well” in the future!
