Summer EDGE Academic Program

Filled with Salesian optimism, our program will offer in-person and hybrid online programming that will bring engaging for-credit and enrichment experiences to our students. The Summer EDGE Academic program began in 2017 with students’ personal academic goals and needs in mind. Its innovative and enthusiastic instructors will continue to fulfill that mission in our unique context.

Salesianum Summer EDGE ensures our programming is available to all community members. If you have questions or concerns about registering your student, please get in touch with the EDGE leadership team at edge@salesianum.org

  • Attendance

Half and full-credit courses will run from 9:00 AM–12:30 PM. Courses have been carefully planned to meet curriculum requirements. Students are required to attend all classes. One day’s absence is the equivalent of missing a full week of classes during the traditional school year. Students who are absent or frequently tardy are liable to lose academic credit for the EDGE course and are subject to dismissal. No refund will be given for students who are removed from coursework due to absences or tardiness.

Parents of students enrolled in courses or workshops are kindly encouraged to report planned or unplanned absences to edge@salesianum.org.
  • Books and Materials

Students will receive course-specific information about required books and materials after enrollment has been processed and courses confirmed.
  • Course Catalog

Check out our complete EDGE Academic Catalog with detailed information and courses.
  • Enrollment

All courses and some workshops have limited seats available and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

The registration deadline for half- and full-credit courses is Friday, April 12. Registration for Middle School, Freshman, and SAT Prep workshops will continue throughout the summer. Students and parents will be contacted and refunded in the event a class is canceled due to low enrollment.
  • Grading

Salesianum Summer EDGE courses will use the Salesianum grading scale, and grades will be included on students’ high school transcripts. Students must meet the course objectives determined by Salesianum School to receive course credit. Students who fail a summer course will not receive course credit or a tuition refund.
  • Phasing

Due to the rigorous and immersive nature of the summer session, most Summer EDGE at Salesianum courses will follow an Accelerated and/or Honors curriculum. This does not preclude students enrolled in the College Prep curriculum from taking an Accelerated and/or Honors course; rather, students should review prerequisite information carefully and consult with current teachers, guidance counselors, and Gardner Center counselors to determine the best possible course of study given their interests and goals.
  • Refunds

As budgeting commitments must be made prior to the opening of the summer session, all course and workshop withdrawals must be submitted in writing to edge@salesianum.org by April 15th. While 50% tuition deposit is nonrefundable, students who withdraw prior to April 15th will not be billed for the remaining balance of tuition.
  • Tuition

    • Half-Credit Courses $650
    • Full-Credit Courses $1,300
    • Middle School Workshops TBD
    • Freshman Workshops TBD
    • SAT Prep Workshop $600
  • Virtual & Asynchronous Accommodation

Courses and workshops that are not designated "hybrid" or "virtual" in our online catalog are run entirely in person on Salesianum's campus. Decisions to offer certain courses and workshops without a virtual or hybrid option are made in consultation with course instructors in light of the complexity of content and accelerated pace, as well the significant impact of Zoom logistics on lesson planning and student experience both inside and outside the classroom. While we are occasionally able to permit short-term (one or two days) virtual attendance when extenuating circumstances arise, we are not able to accommodate requests for extended or full-time virtual or asynchronous instruction for in-person courses.

Requests for short-term (one or two days) virtual or asynchronous instruction must be submitted in writing to edge@salesianum.org and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
